Crawford County Michigan has always been a welcoming place. Many travel through the area every day because of its crossroads location. It's "Up North" for many, and the residents are proud of where they live.
This group of republicans is dedicated to ensuring the constitution is practiced in the county. While we resist the fad movements of Marxists and the corruption of self-serving politicians, we are working to make things better and together form a voice that can be heard in Lansing and even in D.C..
We meet monthly and have a revived approach that, hopefully, will attract you to become involved in our "Citizen" government, of the people, by the people and for the people.
Crawford County Republican Creed
US Constitution. Article. IV. Section. 4.
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
No where in the US Constitution are the words "democrat, democracy, democratic" ever mentioned.
A republican form of government is not about a political party, it is about the interaction within our governmental system, one in which the citizens have a say in all matters that govern the country, in which the minority and majority are both respected.
Democracy in its purest form is mob rule that has little or no respect for a minority. This is one reason the founding fathers avoided that form of government. It is why we have a bill of rights and enforced civility through constitutional amendments beginning with the 1st Amendment that guarantees each person, precinct, county, district and state have individual an aggregate voices represented in public discourse, the press, and election results.
The nation's founders envisioned a federated structure that scaled up from local precincts, to districts, to states, to the "Federal" government. In a federation each precinct represents a small group of people. These precincts are federated and equal partners in the function of aggregating election results with the other federated precincts, each having it's own local government that cannot supercede state and federal constitutional authority. Each exercises local legislation, protection and public service. Likewise, the state and federal governments have to respect the mandates of the local governments by protecting them, not ruling over them. The original design is a partnership, not dominant verses submissive in nature.
The states serve the people and protect the people and the federation. The idea of service is disappearing in many quarters. Currently, our federal and state governments appear to be authoritarian rather than benevolent. The leadership pushes pet project policy on the people in legislation to line their pockets or create power centers that violate the principles of our constitutional republic of federated local governments instead of asking the people what they need.
